01.Feb.2011 EMPD020: William Breakspear – Skydive

Raised by wolves in the depths of English woodland, Breakspear soon came to love the natural rhythms of the forest. Thrust into the city as a pup he foraged for beats in the urban sprawl, occasionally finding a kick or bass slide which reminded him of the forest. Now he has mastered his biomechanic arms and digital brain he can finally return to the trees with added vigour and become complete with the beat.

William has a reputation for creating the most primal sounding high tech music you will ever hear. Analogue samples, 8 bit fuzziness and old school booming basslines can all be heard in any one of William’s multi genre workouts.

Backing up William, Empathy has assembled a team of unrivalled breakbeat expertise…

K+Lab is no stranger to Empathy. In 2010 he gave us “The Whole World’s Ill” which featured on glitch and breakbeat charts across the world. His blend of dirty basslines, 80′s hip hop breaks and electro freshness is a perfect complement to the Breakspear sound. Their two collaborations on this release will undoubtedly find a welcome home in any good breakbeat collection.

Throughout the years Timmy has proven you don’t need to think inside one genre to keep people on the dance floor. Playing across the board with breaks, house, techno, garage, drum ‘n’ bass, electro, booty bass, hip hop and downbeat, Timmy has kept the dance floors heaving for 20 years. 20 years of undying service, smashing clubs, festivals and radio transmitters apart with his fearsome mixing skills and secret artillery of hot tunes. With releases on labels like Passenger,
Cut La Roc’s Rocstar Records and DJ Icey’s label Zone, Timmy has made his mark on breakbeat world wide. Moving into 2011, he explores the 4/4 bassline genre with some crisp biscuits due for release soon, including a remix of DJ Love due out on Ali B’s AIR imprint.

Greg Churchill completes the release with his Aural Trash remix – Putting together parties and radio shows since 1984. Known for his strong commitment to the electronic music scene and upcoming talent, Greg Churchill is undoubtedly a legend within the NZ dance world. He has a long list of production credits on labels such as Underwater Records, Gung Ho, Craft, Azul, Data and Cosmonote Blue. His collaboration with William Breakspear features his trademark electro clash sound with a razor like glitchy edge.

The Skydive EP is out on Feb 14 and comes complete with 6 tracks of glitch breakbeat derangement… you’d be a fool to miss out.

18.Sep.2009 EMPD011: K-Lab ft MC Analog – Wrecked

k-lab + mc analog - wreckedEMPD011: K-Lab feat MC Analog – Wrecked + Remixes

Empathy Digital is proud to present the killer new release – ‘Wrecked’ feat MC Analog by newcomer on the scene, K-Lab.

Queenstown lad Caleb is one half of the breakthrough drum n bass act Blackplanet. With dnb firmly under his belt K-lab has momentarily turned his attention to producing some more experimental breakbeat influenced tunes. His latest release takes the form of a mid tempo ghetto bass workout which hits in all the right places. Quick draw, hip hop style vocals from the talented MC Analog flow alongside a wobbly bassline. Add some tight drum programming and we’re away laughing with a 105bpm chunktastic monster of a track.

One phat track is never enough for Empathy so we got friends and demon producers White Papoo, Opiuo and Evil to lend their production skills to remixing the track:

A: K-Lab feat MC Analog – Wrecked (White Papoo Remix)
French based producer Eddy Benitaue aka White Papoo has delivered a dancefloor ready nu-skool breaks version of the track. With White Papoo finger marks all over this remix, those who have come to love and appreciate Eddys amazing production skills will not be disappointed. Clocking in at 135bpm, this is a reach for the lazers remix, shake that arse!

B: K-Lab feat MC Analog – Wrecked (Opiuo Remix)
Imagine a precisely blended concoction of tight irresistible grooves, chunk fueled bouncy beats, luscious brooding soundscapes, and a bowl of scrumptious glitch. Ex Kiwi Opiuo (Oscar) brings to the ring a devastating low blow with this remix. No element of the track ever sits still yet it retains that midtempo funk and Opiuo vibe we know and dig.

C: K-Lab feat MC Analog – Wrecked (Evil Remix)
Friend and fellow badman NZ’s own EVIL of the premier dubstep label Bassweight Recordings was keen to get on board with a dubstep remix which delivers on all fronts. Staying true to the party vibe of the original tune, Evil makes great use of original samples and brings the wobness supreme vibe he is renowned for.

All tracks are available for preview from Juno
